I decided to cook at the Pickwick. Here is what happened…
I chose the ingredients above based on what I know I like to eat. Onion & garlic are basic ingredients to a lot of food my mom makes so I knew I would like those (garlic also makes your food smell good so people think you know what you’re doing). The zucchinis and mushrooms were experimental, I like them by themselves but wasn’t sure if they tasted good with the other ingredients.
As for the spinach well, I love love love spinach! I could be Popeye’s kid.
The cherry tomatoes were random. I was eating the cherry tomatoes as snack, but I wanted to see what would happen if I added it with the rest of the veggies. My tomato idea was probably from scrolling over some cooking video on my Facebook feed awhile ago. Facebook knows me too well. I’m sure Facebook can probably subconsciously influence me to poison myself somehow.
Total cost of meal was: £9.10
The process itself didn’t take long but taking pictures while cooking was quite the challenge. I should hire my own personal photographer.
But actually…
I was surprised by how calming the whole process of cooking turned out. There was a lot of freedom because I only had to care about my own tastebuds being happy and no one else. I felt at ease knowing that if I messed up, only I would have to suffer the consequences of eating my own terrible food.
It gave me a similar feeling that running gives me. When I run… I am in my own world, free to think about everything and nothing (sometimes I’m thinking about a lot of issues I need to resolve but after awhile I forget about them).
When I was cooking I can feel the bubble of focus around me. No one dared to enter that bubble. I liked this a lot. Like running, I was free to think about everything and nothing (I worried whether or not my food was going to be edible, but soon I was taken by the process that I stopped overthinking and went with my gut instinct).
Soooo I was indeed happy with how well my Tortelloni with Vegetable dish turned out. Let me tell you, it was deeeee-lishhh!
